Two thoughts from last night’s Afghan Whigs show

  1. The Afghan Whigs are a band that have figured out how to sound robust without being forceful.
  2. Around the time of Achtung Baby, U2 figured out that they could introduce sex into their music by finding the sexuality in their religion. The Afghan Whigs are a bit like this period of U2, except they replace the religion with more sex.
