Stephan Jenkins, redeemed.

The first two Third Eye Blind records are incredible.

3eb’s debut is one of my favorite albums ever. so many hits back to back.

“Nickels and dimes/Yours and mine/Did you cash in all your dreams?” Stephen Jenkins is the worst lyricist, but I fucking love that song, too.
Third Eye Blind: perhaps not so underrated after all?
I really came to this band late; though “Semi-Charmed Life” was a deserved hit in Australia, none of the other singles from 3eb or Blue did anything at all. I remember reading something at the time that described the band as wildly popular in the States (“Really? Those do-do-do guys?” I thought) and — can you believe this? — I took that as sufficient reason to dismiss them.
Still, assuming that people could use a reminder of the post-grunge boom in alternative pop-rock, what’s the number one album from that era absolutely ripe for re-evaluation: Third Eye Blind, or the Gin Blossoms’ New Miserable Experience?
