I’m a bit behind on that TV thing I do, so let’s make up for it with a brief explanation of why last week’s Thanksgiving/Christmas/Independence Day “Pony” was so awesome.
- It was the founding story of Equestria that revealed the pony nation began when ethnic pony enclaves had a breakdown in trade relations after a natural disaster caused widespread famine. Mutual enmity and mistrust meant a diplomatic summit designed to solve the crisis only drove all parties closer to war. The crisis ended when an external threat compelled the individual sects to federate for defense purposes, create a fiscal union, and forge a new national identity.
